Unfortunately, Karen has had to cancel her walk on the 27th September, because she recently discovered that a crucial section has been closed for maintenance. There will now be no walk on that date.

I’ve just got back from leading my Rudgwick walk, which starts from the King’s Head pub at the north end of the village. The first half runs down the eastern side of Rudgwick, across the A281 and down the dismantled railway track, before heading west to the Haven and the Blue Ship pub. The second half runs up the other side of the village, up onto the hills before finally arriving back at the start from the west.
It was good walking weather, and there was the added bonus that the walk coincided with Rudgwick Steam Rally, which provided some added sound and colour to the first part of the walk. Lunch was very pleasant at the Blue Ship, a pub noted for its distinctive interior, where the bar cosists only of a hatch!
Thanks to all that attended, and if you want to leave comments on the walk, please feel free to do so.
Steve organised a walk four years ago that coincided with the fourth day of the Ashes Test at Egbaston. As those of you with any interest in cricket will know, that match ended in rather dramatic fashion, which led to wild celebration by some walkers listening anxiously as they moved along.
Yet again his walk coincided with the same day of the same test and the same venue, although this time there was not the same drama; any exciting denouement will occur today.
Despite some pessimistic forecasts (but who believes forecasts?), the weather was excellent for the walk: hot, but with sufficient breeze. The walk was nowhere near as long as Steve had suggested; it was more like 8 miles rather than the 13 advertised! Apologies to anyone that may have put off.
Anyone on the walk with comments to make on it, feel free to do so.
