After miserable weather for much of the summer, things have taken a turn for the better. Just as with the previous walk (see here for a report), the sun was blazing, and hats, sun tan lotion and bottled water were the order of the day. There was a brief period where rain threatened, and there were some intermittent rumbles of thunder, but the weather held up into the afternoon.
The start to the walk was delayed, as Steve overshot with his train, and had to wait for the next one back!
We started by walking south from the bandstand in the Carfax, past the Old Town Hall, and then through the churchyard of the local parish church. The walk down to Nuthurst took us through Denne Park and past a number of farms. We stopped at the Black Horse Inn in Nuthurst for lunch; both the setting and the food were highly appreciated. The second half of the walk also passed a number of farms, including Chesworth Farm on the south side of Horsham. We ended up back in the Carfax.
Mark Seeger took some photos, which I’ll put up as soon as he sends them over.
Thanks to everyone who came on the walk. If you did attend the walk and want to leave a comment, please feel free to do so.
