Today’s walk was the walk I planned to run last autumn, but was forced to change when the pub turned out to be fully booked a week in advance! The weather was excellent, with sun and breeze, and finally conditions were dry under foot.
The walk started from Petworth Park car park, and saw us proceed south west across the park before ascending to the attractive village of Upperton. From there we headed cross country towards Lurgashall. Things were complicated by a recent diversion of the footpath, but we were soon back on track. Unlike on the previous occasion, the path by the Mill Farm mill pond was open, so another diversion was not necessary.
Lunch was at the Noah’s Ark Inn in Lurgashall, a pretty pub that overlooks an equally pretty village green. The food itself was well received by the group.
The walk after lunch was a shorter stroll over farmland and then through the Pheasant Copse. The final stretch along the road back to the car park took us past the amusingly named “Limbo”.
Many thanks to all who turned out on the walk. If you attended and would like to comment, feel free to do so.
