The walk grades are defined as follows:

  • Grade 1: flat, easy, slower pace, suitable for beginners, 7-8 miles
  • Grade 2: mostly flat but maybe a couple of hills and styles, slower pace, 7-8 miles
  • Grade 3: more hilly, rough underfoot (muddy fields, styles etc.), maybe faster pace, 8-10 miles
  • Grade 4: hilly, rough underfoot, faster pace, 10 miles or more
  • Grade 5: hilly, long distance, faster pace, strenuous, 12 miles or more
