Latest Walk: Chiddingfold to Northchapel

Today’s walk was a circular, with the start/end point being Chiddingfold village green. It was a longer walk than usual – I believe Steve K measured it at about 13.5 miles – but walking conditions were generally good, and the pace of the walk was good too.

Lunch was at the Half Moon in Northchapel. The pub was rather cluttered with a bizarre collection of artefacts adorning the walls and ceiling. Also, it had a rather old-fashioned ambience to it. None the less, although the menu was rather basic compared to many pubs nowadays, the food was good and enjoyed – I think – by all. Certainly, I would recommend the Northchapel Sausages!

Many thanks to Andrew for leading this walk. If you attended and would like to comment, feel free to do so.

  1. This was quite a good walk to appreciate the undeveloped part of North west sussex and the fact Surrey is included enhances. James is accurate on the rather old fashioned nature of the half moon at north chapel. But the food was pretty good. Apologies for the high pace but it was needed to get round in reasonable time.

  2. Thank you Andrew for the walk, a little stiff today but it was worth it. Really good with the wildlife and great pub too. Simon

  3. Great walk but i’d suggest next time to start in Northchapel and have lunch in Chiddingfold to make it different and if not at least to avoid the Half Moon pub.

And a slower pace would be appreciated if not at least to take the time to enjoy the beautiful scenery.

Thank you Andrew for leading, and for exploring an area outside of our normal ‘comfort zone’ of Mid Sussex.
