In the last year, Steve has taken over as the Ramblers Local Footpath Secretary for the rural parish of St John Without, which is located to the West of Sussex. This inspired him to create a walk than runs through the parish. He tried out the walk on the group today.
The walk starts in Lewes near the prison, and heads west up on to the South Downs. It descends on the north side before ending up at the Half Moon in Plumpton for lunch. After lunch it runs along the north side of the Downs before climbing over them back into Lewes, passing the site of the Battle of Lewes (1264).
The weather was ideal for the walk, and conditions were good underfoot. It was greatly enjoyed by those who attended. The food at the Half Moon was excellent.
Many thanks to everyone who came on the walk. If you did and feel like leaving a comment, please feel free to do so.
